Jon "Rattle" Dover, the former Fire Angel, could have found redemption in the Saoude desert. But he hadn't changed. Still sneaky, alcoholic, and violent, he ended up attracting the attention of the Oculus. Surviving the bite of numerous snakes is one thing, resisting an Oculus parasite attack is another. By getting used to the world's most violent poisons, it was only natural that his mind ended up poisoned too.
One month later... "You and I are too much alike," whispered a dark voice to Dark Rattle in his sleep. "Yes, we are even identical. But in your arrogance, you forgot one thing: in our original clans as in the Oculus, I will ALWAYS beat you!"
