The little, shapeless Mudster was a another of the Gheist's experiments that didn't quite come out as intended. So they threw him in the trashcan and left him for dead… But Mudster's desire to live was stronger than that, and he "nourished" himself on garbage until he grew stronger and stronger. It was then that the Gheist finally decided to welcome him back with, of course, the intention of using him against Clint City.
