In living student memory, no one has ever been able to slip past Hemdall during a school curfew. The gatekeeper is everywhere and nowhere, all at the same time, being able to suddenly materialize out of the puff of a cigarette or the fog that envelops the school at nightfall. Rumor has it he is the defender of a secret to which only he and a few professors are privy, and which only his gates of smoke can reveal.
